Hastreiter, Barbara (14 SEP 1888 - 19 MAY 1945)

Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning at 9:00 o’clock at St. Bernard’s Church for Mrs. Barbara Hastreiter, 56, who passed away at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, May 19th, 1945 of diabetes. The body was taken to Marshfield for burial beside her husband. An obituary will be published next week.

Funeral services were held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on Wednesday morning, May 23rd at 9:00 o’clock for Mrs. Barbara Hastreiter who passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on May 19, 1945 of complications caused by diabetes. Rev. A.M. Muckerheide officiated. She had reached the age of 56 years, 8 months and 5 days.

Barbara Marg Baumann was born in Hewitt, Wis., on Sept. 14, 1888. She moved with her parents to Marshfield where she was united in marriage to Joseph Hastreiter on May 25, 1909. They resided in Parker’s Prairie, Minn., Athens, Marshfield and Rib Falls before locating in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1936. Mr. Hastreiter passed away on Oct. 28th of that year.

She is survived by seven children, five sons, Kenneth of Edgar; Robert, Greenwood; Gordon of Loyal; Bernard, American Air forces in India; and Joseph Jr., in the U.S. Naval Hospital in Ft. Worth Texas; two daughters, (Helen) Mrs. Harry Meske, Thorp and (Phyllis), Mrs. Arnold Velchek of Provo, Utah; five brothers, Anton, Louis and Theodore of Marshfield; Philip and Alphonse of Milwaukee; three sisters, Mrs. Theresa Kaiser of Stratford; Mrs. Chas. (Anna) Hoffman and Mrs. L.J. (Rose) Hastreiter of Marshfield, and twelve grandchildren.

Interment was made at Hillside Cemetery at Marshfield. Pallbearers were Anton Micke, Louis Henke, Anton Baldeschwiler, Arthur Soderberg, Sr., W.A. Wilhelm and Joseph Gengler.
