COLBY -- Edwin O. Weiland Sr., 79, F2284 Highway N, Colby, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at his home in the town of Frankfort.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, March Rapids. Burial will take place in Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, March Rapids.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and from 11:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

He was born March 10, 1929, in the town of Wien, Marathon County, to Arthur and Matilda (Kromrie) Weiland. He married Lorraine L. Diers on Feb. 6, 1951, in Wurtzburg. He had farmed in the town of Frankfort.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Lorraine; and a daughter and five sons, Susan (Thomas) Lindau of Colby, Richard (Kristi) Weiland of Colby, Edwin (Gloria) Weiland Jr. of Stratford, Gary (Peggy) Weiland of Fenwood, Jeffery Weiland of Colby, and Loren (Patricia) Weiland of Colby, Wis. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Edgar Weiland of Avalon; and three sisters, Esther Lee of Clinton, Elnora (Raymond) Landwehr of Stratford and Delores (Keith) Krenz of Lindsey.
