The Vernon Lindow Family

The Vernon Lindow family farm is located 2-1/2 miles southeast of Chili. The farm has been in the Lindow family for four generations.

In April, 1880, Vernon's grandfather, William, purchased eighty acres of woods. He cleared some of the land and built a log house. In December, 1880, he married Sylvina Binder from Brillion. Shortly after they were married he built the present family home. He was a carpenter. William and Sylvina had two children, Mable and Luther. Luther farmed with his father and was married in 1909 to Helen Drescher. They lived and farmed with his parents until 1921 when Luther purchased the farm and built a house in Chili and moved there to live. There were three children born to this marriage, Milo, Victor, and Vernon. Vernon, the youngest son, stayed home and farmed with his father. Vernon was married in 1945 to Iris Neinas, daughter of Clarence and Lillian Neinas, also of Chili. Vernon and his bride lived with his folks until November, 1950, at which time Luther bought a home and moved to Chili. They continued farming in partnership until August, 1958, when Luther passed away and Vernon took over the farm. Vernon and Iris are the parents of two children, Michael Vernon born Nov. 21, 1947, and Marilyn Iris born April 25, 1949.

On December 7, 1968, Michael married the former Donna Wolfe of Aniwa , and will continue farming in partnership with his father. Marilyn chose to be a registered nurse for her profession and at present is a senior at St. Joseph's School of Nursing at Marshfield. Since 1880, this farm has grown from the original eighty acres to the present three hundred acres. The barn was remodeled in 1965.
