Alger, Genevieve (9 MAY 1945)

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at 8:30 Wednesday morning, May 9th, 1945 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church when Cpl. John P. Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schmidt, and Miss Genevieve Alger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Alger, were united by Rev. Father A.M. Muckerheide.

The bride was beautifully attired in a gown of white silk marquisette. She wore a fingertip veil and carried a bridal bouquet of white roses and pink carnations. Her sister, Mrs. Joe Schmidt, was her attendant and was dressed in blue net with matching headdress. Her flowers were pink roses and white carnations.

The groom wore his military uniform and was attended by his brother Paul who wore a brown suit.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, and attended by relatives and friends.

The groom is stationed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. The bride is employed with the Thorp Telephone Co.

Their many friends join in extending best wishes for a long and happy life of wedded bliss.
