Dahl, Irene Ida Alvina (October 17, 1910 - April 19, 2008)

Irene Dahl, 97, of Cumberland died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Cumberland Extended Care Unit.

She was born October 17, 1910 in Clark County, Wisconsin to Arthur and Josephine (Awe) Schulte. She moved to Joel in Polk County in 1916 and to Cumberland in 1920. She was confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church in 1925 and was the oldest active member of the church at the time of her death. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1928 and then attended the Minneapolis Business College. Irene worked at many jobs in the Cumberland area.

She was married in Cumberland on June 27, 1936 to Werner Dahl who preceded her in death on May 6, 1980. Irene stayed home for a number of years to raise her children. She began working at the Cumberland City Hall in 1956 and worked there for many years before retiring. After retirement, she went back to work at City Hall part-time for several years.

She is survived by three daughters, Carol Halverson of Cumberland, Barbara (John) Olson of Schofield and Mary (Ken) Farley of Galesville, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 1 grandson, Chad Bents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Augustana Lutheran Church, Cumberland with Rev. David Halaas officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Cumberland. Pallbearers are Paul Olson, Catherine Moore, Melissa Best, Jennifer Ruether, Cheri Goodwin and Carrie Bents.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Monday at the Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland and one hour before the services at the church on Tuesday.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Skinner Funeral Homes of Cumberland.
