Johnson, Minnie (26 AUG 1864 - 2 NOV 1944)

Mrs. Minnie Johnson, nee Minnie Theel, passed away at the Memorial Hospital, Sheboygan, early Thursday morning, Nov. 2, 1944, after a week’s illness with a paralytic stroke.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Germany, Aug. 26, 1864 and with her parents, came to Kiel, Wis. At the age of three, where she spent her childhood and then came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). Her in 1888 she was united in wedlock to August Hansmann and they settled on a homestead in the town of Reseburg. Here, four children were born, the eldest daughter Emma died in infancy. Mr. Hansmann died in 1909.

In 1913 she was married to O.E. Johnson of Longwood. They bought and operated Mosher’s hardware store in Thorp for a number of years. Mr. Johnson passed away in 1921.

Mrs. Johnson resided in Los Angeles, Calif. For a few years and spent her remaining years in Kiel.

She leaves to mourn, two sons, Harry F. Hansman, Milwaukee, Arthur J. Hansman, Rice lake; and a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Meta) Kondell, Chicago; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, wm. Theel of Kiel, and a sister, Mrs. Wm. Reseburg of Los Angeles.

The body lay in state at Miselwitz Funeral Home at Kiel, Thursday evening, after which it was brought to Thorp for interment in the Reseburg Cemetery with Rev. F.H. Sprengler of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, of which she was a faithful member, officiating at the Thorp Funeral Home Saturday afternoon.

She was a devoted mother, kind, dear and God-loving, willing to help both family and friends and badly missed by everyone.

The pallbearers were: Louis Pagel, Otto Beckman, Herman buss, Chas. Wendt, John Deutschlander and Ed Beller.

Out of town relatives present at the funeral were: Harry Hansman, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brehem and children of Knapp, Mr. and Mrs. Art Hansman, Rice Lake, Mr. and Mrs. J. Kondell and daughters, Chicago, Mrs. J.C. Wilcox, Menomonie.
