The Winkelman Farm


Mr. Ern 1 Winkelman was born August 19, 1875, in Germany and came to Wisconsin with his parents and three sisters. The family settled on a small farm near Neasho in Dodge county. On January 2, 1898, he married Amelia Greeler, who was horn near Neasho, Wis., on Sept. 20, 1877. They had one daughter, Hattie, born April 9, 1899. In 1901, they bought an 80-acre farm in the Town of York, Clark county. This farm became their home in the fall of 1901 and it has been ever since.


They built a barn in 1904 and a brick house in 1905. Mr. Winkelman passed away on August 13, 1960, at the age of 85. Mrs. Emil Winkelman passed away on April 17, 1968, at the age of nearly 91. Their daughter, Mrs. Hattie Forman, still lives on the home farm. Her son, Alvin Lavene, was born on the Winkelman farm in 1918. He and his wife, Alice, and their children, Gary and Ricky, still live on the home farm, also one daughter Bonnie is married and has two children, Lee and Lori.
