Albert Walters (24 Aug  - 22 Dec 1944)

 

Albert Walters Farm


Albert Walters was born August 24, 1877, in the town of Grant, Clark County. He received his schooling in the district school there. He worked on his father's farm, and as a young man worked in the wheat fields in the Dakotas at harvest time and spent many winters in the logging camps of Michigan.


On Dec. 4, 1908, Albert married Sarah Lezotte, They worked the family farm a few more years and then bought an 80-acre farm from Wm. Ward. There they lived in a one-room log house, later building a large frame house, He served as a. school board member for some time. Seven children were born to the family. Three children proceeded their parents in death. Waldo and Marrie died in infancy, and Victor died at the age of 10. Norma ( Mrs. Leon Metcalf), Mildred (Mrs. George Warnecke), Mardene (Mrs. John Stienike), and Leslie are still living.


Mr. Walters passed away at the home of Leon Metcalf on March 18, 1959, at the age of 77 years. His wife proceeded him in death on Dec. 31, 1945, at the age of 60.
