Anthony Walter, Sr., Farm

In November, 1889, Mr. and Mrs. George Walter, Sr., came to Clark County, and settled in what is known as "Hein-town". They left Germany with two sons, George and John, and Mrs. Walter's mother, Mrs. Magdeline Hoeser, After arriving, they cleared the land and built their log house, supplied logs to the Ilines Sa4nill, and then went into dairy farming on 40 acres. Later they purchased 40 more acres.

To this family, seven children were born, George, John, Mary, Joseph, Louie, Anthony, and Annie. In 1936, Tony took over the management of the farm from his father. In 1937, Tony married Beatrice Buddinger of the Town of York. They continued dairy farming, adding another 405cres from Bill Benedict in 1953 which then supplied them with 120 acres of farming land. Many improvements were made to the farm.

To Tony and Beatrice were born Anthony, Jr., Joseph, Kathryn; and Janice. In 1963, Tony Walter retired and Anthony, Jr., and Joseph took over the farm in partnership. In 1962, they purchased an additional BO acres, making their farm its present 200 acres. Anthony, Jr., was married in.1962 to Alice Zopfi from Stratford and they have two children, James and Carol; and in 1968. Joseph was married to Kathy Grassel from Auburndale. The families are presently living in mobile homes on the same farm. Kathryn, who is Mrs. Delman SchwelIenbach, has one son, and they live to Marshfield.
