Spence, Thomas W. (? - 24 Feb. 1912)

Thomas W. Spence, one of the leading attorneys of the state, was stricken with heart failure last Saturday morning, while arguing a case in the supreme court room at Madison, and died five minutes later.

Mr. Spence could well be called "Father of Colby," having owned the land and platted the same into the lots that comprise the East Ward of our little city in the early 70’s. One of our principal streets bears his name.
