Abegglen, Gordon A. (31 July 1923 - 14 Apr. 2008)

COLBY -- Gordon A. Abegglen, 84, of Colby, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby, Wis. Burial will follow in the Colby Memorial cemetery (Colby, Wisconsin). Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Colby is assisting Gordon's family with the arrangements. Gordon was born July 31, 1923, in Stetsonville to Albert and Lydia (Ploeckelman). On June 16, 1951, Gordon married Ivadeane Smith at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville. They moved to Colby where they continued to farm and raise their children.

He is survived by his wife, Ivadeane; his children, Arlyn (Joyce) Abegglen, Spencer, Dale Abegglen, Abbotsford, Cheryl (Frank) Smith, Battle Creek, Mich., Renae Nelson, Mesa, Ariz., Lorna (Lee) Preston, Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Gordon is further survived by two sisters and two brothers, Adeline (Lester) Schoenike, Waukesha, Janet (Marvin) Schrader, Sheboygan, Donald Abegglen and Alvin (Genevieve) Abegglen, both of Stetsonville, Wisconsin.
