Hoops, Martin A. (12 Feb. 1888 - 8 July 1973)

Spencer, Wis. - Martin A. Hoops, 85, of route 2, Spencer, Wisconsin, died at his home at 7:45 a.m. Sunday. Death was due to an apparent heart ailment.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. William H. Ruhbusch, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be made in the West Spencer cemetery.

Visitations at the Rux Funeral Home may be made after 2 p.m. today (Monday).

Mr. Hoops was born Feb. 12, 1888, at Wayside, and was educated in the Wayside and Spencer schools. He was married Sept. 3, 1914, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer to the former Frieda Huber, who survives him.

He had worked for the railroad for the past 50 years and also had farmed in the Spencer area his entire life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Verlyn Hoops, route 2, Spencer, and Elmer Hoops, Milwaukee; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Irene) Heckel, route 1, Chili; a brother, Ervin Hoops, Spencer; three sisters, Mrs. Lela Molle, Colby, Mrs. Harry (Sabina) Graham, Sycamore, Ill., and Mrs. Frank (Elsie) Marten, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A son, three brothers, and three sisters preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
