Korntved, Mr./Mrs. Anton (50th Anniv. - 7 July 1960)

Mr. and Mrs. Anton Korntved celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday. Open house was held from 2 to 4 P.M. and a reception and dance were held in Memorial Hall. A buffet dinner was served to 200 guests at tables decorated in white and gold and a surrey ride was one of the day’s entertainment features.

Mr. and Mrs. Korntved were married July 7, 1910 in the Lutheran Church in Spencer by the Rev. Schmitt. They farmed in the town of Brighton until 1932 when they moved to Unity. Mr. Korntved has been a member of the school board and the town board. For 16 years he was a patrolman on Highway 13.

He was born October 6, 1887 in the town of Brighton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Korntved and was educated at Romeo School.

Mrs. Korntved is the former Frieda Voth, born March 24, 1893 in Clark County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Voth. She was educated in Willowbrook School.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Korntved are in good health. His hobby is hunting and she enjoys knitting.

Their children are Mrs. Earl (Gladys) Ringquist, Spencer; Donald Korntved, Unity; Mrs. Andrew (Loretta) Peters, Mishicot; and Mrs. Joseph (Merle) Bremer, Chicago. They have 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Korntved’s cousin, Mrs. John Voelker, the former Dora Luepke, Spencer, was an attendant at the wedding fifty years ago and was present for the occasion Saturday, July 2.
