Nickel, Mr./Mrs. Leonard (50th Anniv. - 1 May 1957)

About 40 relatives gathered in the Trinity Lutheran Church Parlors, Unity, Saturday evening to help Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Nickel celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. A wedding cake formed the centerpiece for the table of honor, with yellow mums in gold vases providing the major decorations on the other tables for the 6 o’clock dinner.

That evening a reception was held for relatives and friends in the Unity Memorial Hall.

Their attendants were her sister, Mrs. Alex Ahlgren, Minneapolis; Frank Korth of Marshfield; the late Carrie Schultz, and the late Frank Schwantes, a brother of Mrs. Nickel.

After their marriage they farmed in the Town of Brighton until their retirement to the village of Unity in 1943.

They are the parents of three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Nicola) Loughead, Unity; Mrs. Harold (Vera) Schade, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Herman (Bernice) Reckner, Stratford. There are 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
