Horban, Henry (3 MAR 1883 - 11 JUL 1944)

Mr. Henry Horban passed away at his home in the Town of Worden on Tuesday, July 11, 1944, death resulting from a heart attack. He had reached the age of 61 years, 4 months, and 8 days.

Henry Horban was born in Austria on March 3, 1883. He came to America in September 1907, making his home in Brooklyn, N.Y., where on May 31 the following year, he was united in marriage to Miss Celia Figura. In 1915, he, together with his family, moved to Wisconsin and located on a farm in the vicinity of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). During the past year the family moved to their present home south of Stanley.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Mrs. Celia Horban; six sons, Pvt. Johnny Horban with the 5th army in Italy, Cpl. Michael Horban, USAAC, England, Walter Horban, S2c Navy, Norfolk, Va., Sgt Sammy Horban, U.S. Army Base, Newport News, Va., Joe and Peter Horban of Stanley; 3 daughters, Mrs. Paul Lockhart (Sophie), Mrs. George Greenwalt (Catherine), both of Chicago, and Miss Marie Horban of Stanley; one brother, Mike of Brazil, South America.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stanley, on Saturday, July 15, 1944, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. John Stock of Minneapolis officiating. The pallbearers were: Tony Przybylski, Dan Troz, John Figura, Sylvester Stebak, John Lew and John Orysczyn.

Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lockhart and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Greenwalt and family, Mrs. Walter Horban, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. John Figura and son Mike of Kennan; Mrs. Peter Orysczyn of Kennan, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Przybylski of Hannibal, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Stebak of Gilman; Mr. and Mrs. John Przybylski of Hannibal; Walter Horban S.2c, of Norfolk, Va., and Sgt Sammy Horban of Newport News, Va.
