Local Happenings in Colby and Vicinity Sept. 27, 1951

Mr. and Mrs. D. Imhuff, who spent the summer here, left for Ohio last week.

Miss Frieda Bleichroth returned to Chicago, Ill., Friday after spending the summer months in Colby, Wis.

Mr. and Mrs. Meril Crosgrove of ? Minn., spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Lily Allmann.

Dr. and Mrs. D. O. Wiersig have moved into the former Oscar Dittmeyer residence which they purchased.

Mrs. Ed Zillmann returned to her home Tuesday after spending several days with relatives in Baldwin and Eau Claire.

Charles Lindner underwent an operation at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital and is getting along as well as can be expected.

Mr. and Mrs. Royal Bome of Beloit spent the week-end with the former’s nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Harlowe Hibbard, and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Alioto and children returned to Milwaukee Saturday after spending the past three weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Pokallus.

Norman Sill of Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, is spending a 20-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sill. From Colby, Norman will go to Camp Stouman, Calif., and, in October, he will go to Alaska.

Callers at the home of Rev. and Mrs. O. Hoffmann last Friday were Rev. and Mrs. O. Marten of Ashland and Sunday callers were Mrs. E. Hand of Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. A. Wichman of Libby, Mont., and Mrs. C. A. Locatel of Miami, Fla.

Mr. and Mrs. Wyman Suits and five-year-old daughter and the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Suits, have moved to Colby from Green Bay and are living in the upstairs apartments of the Red Owl store which the former has taken over.

Mr. and Mrs. A. X. Umhoefer visited at Janesville Friday and Saturday with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Umhoefer. Mr. Umhoefer also attended the monthly meeting of the Catholic Order of Foresters High Court in Chicago, Ill.

Mrs. Theo. Lulloff and daughter, Miss Gertrude, R.N., returned to Colby Friday after spending a week in Madison, Janesville, Chicago, Ill., and Woodstock, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Salter and daughter, Betty, of Marshfield accompanied them to Madison where Betty enrolled in the University of Wisconsin.

Miss Julie Anne Zillmann of Baldwin and Miss Judith Mary Zillmann of Eau Claire visted several days with their grand mother, Mrs. Pauline Zillmann, while their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Zillmann, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Zillmann, visited at Marinette with their brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lein, and family.

Miss Koreen Giese, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Giese of Edgar, left last Tuesday for Laudel, Montana, where she will assist during the illness of her aunt, Mrs. Mike Segmiller, who recently underwent a major operation. Mrs. Segmiller is a sister of Mrs. Giese and Mrs. Norman Wenzel, all of the town of Frankfort.
