Laabs, Hattie #2 (29 SEP 1885 - 13 OCT 1943)

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon from the Congregational Church, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), for Mrs. Fred W. Laabs, 58, whose death occurred Wednesday morning, Oct. 13, 1943, at her home in Curtiss, following a lingering illness. Rev. W.P. Powell, former pastor of the Congregational Church of Curtiss, but now of Phelps, will officiate, and interment will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Laabs, nee Hattie Glenzer, was born in Sheboygan, Sept. 29, 1885, and was married Aug. 6, 1902, to Fred W. Laabs. Before her marriage she had lived at Colby and since that time she was a resident of Curtiss.

Before her illness, Mrs. Laabs was prominent in social circles, and was a faithful member of the Congregational Church. However, with her many activities, she never neglected her duties as a wife and mother, her home always being made pleasant for her husband and family. She will be greatly missed by her family and large number of friends.

Surviving besides her husband are seven sons, Herman Laabs, Springfield, Mo.; Glenzer Laabs, Westfield, Ind.; Orville Laabs, Milan; Bernard Laabs, Abbotsford; Arthur Laabs, seaman second class of the U.S. Navy, stationed in California; Harold Laabs, Curtiss, and Fritz Laabs, Chicago; one daughter, Mrs. George (Mernabelle) Pease, Wis. Rapids; her aged father, C. Glenzer, Colby; two sisters, Mrs. John Burtard, Town of Hoard, and Mrs. Wm. Krueger, Town of Green Grove; three brothers, Tony Glenzer of Rib Lake, John Glenzer of Washington, and Alfonz Glenzer, Medford; and 10 grandchildren.
