Alexander, Jacob (13 Jan. 1877 - 14 Nov. 1950)

Jacob Alexander, a former resident of this community, who made his home the past five years, with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Petrie of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died in that city November 14, 1950, after being ill several years following a stroke. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 18th, at the First Ev. and Reformed church in Colby, Wis., Rev. Franz Paul Puhlmann officiating. Mrs. Margaret W. Puhlmann sang two vocal selections, "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me." Pall bearers were Paul Draeger, Sr., Albert Dins, O. H. Davis, Paul Schmidt, John Petrie and M. O. Johnson. Burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Mr. Alexander was born on January 13, 1877, thus reaching the age of 73 years, 10 months and one day, in Burgdorf, Russia, where he married Katherine Huber on June 12, 1897. They came to this locality in 1930.

Surviving are nine children - John and Fred Alexander of Shafer, Calif., Christian Alexander of Freeman, S. Dak., Mrs. Lydia Schnabel of Unity, Mrs. Magdalena Schnabel of Oregon, Wis., Mrs. Paulina Braun of Hartford, Mrs. Adeline Petrie of Marshfield, Mrs. Edith Schnabel of Brooklyn, Mrs. Vera Hein of Sheboygan. There are 25 grand children and two great grand children.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Christian Alexander of Freeman, S. Dak., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Braun of Hartford, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schnabel of Brooklyn, Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Schnabel of Oregon and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hein of Sheboygan.
