Mathisen, Mary (1878 - 9 Mar. 1950)

Mrs. Mary Mathisen, a former citizen of Colby, passed away at the Watsonville Hospital at Watsonville, Calif., last Thursday, March 9, at the age of 72 years. Funeral services were held at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby Wednesday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Art Schutte, Fred Weller, Carl Prange, Fred Olson, Angus Lamont, Sr., and Paul Tesmer.

Mrs. Mathisen, nee Mary Baumgart, was born in East Prussia, Germany in 1878, and came to this country when a little girl with her parents who settled on a farm one mile north of Unity. She was married to Frank Mathisen at Watsonville, Calif., on May 3, 1917.

Surviving are her husband; two brothers, Otto Baumgart, on the home farm, and Charles Baumgart of Fifield; one sister, Mrs. Theo Lueloff of Colby, Wis. One brother, Godfrey Baumgart, as well as her parents, preceded her in death.

The body was accompanied to Colby by her husband of Watsonville, Calif., and his nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. James Gemmel of Oakland, Calif.
