Gus Gorsegner, 74, died at his home in the city of Thorp on Tuesday, February 12, 1974 of a lingering illness, caused by multiple sclerosis following an accident in 1930. Gus was born October 14, 1899 in the town of Reseburg, Thorp, Wis. On May 7, 1924 he was united in marriage to Ella Hansen at Thorp. They farmed in the town of Reseburg until 1939 when he and his family moved to the city of Thorp.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp on Friday, February 15, 1974 with Rev. Robert Olson officiating at the two p.m. service. Burial was made in the Sylvan cemetery, town of Reseburg. Pallbears were Virgil Bobb, Lester Butterfield, Fred Hedler, Frank Lesniewski, Donald Marshall and Frank Schmidt.

Surviving are his wife Ella; one son Leonard of Stillman Valley, Illinois; two daughters (Helen) Mrs. Tom Davis of Canton, Minn.,(Regina) Mrs. Carl Broeking, Merrill, Wis.; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; two brothers Carl Gorsegner of Redville and Emil Gorsegner of Ferndale, Washington; three sisters Rose Warner of Tombstone, Arizona, Edith Buss and Louise Doege of Thorp.

Transcribers Note: My great aunt and surviving spouse of Gus, Ella Elizabeth (Hansen) Gorsegner, still lives in Thorp and will turn 105 years old on 18 June 2008.
