Warren M. Berg, 72, of Colby, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, in the emergency room at Saint Joseph's Hospital.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby, Wis. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Maurina/Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.

Warren M. Berg

Warren M. Berg, 72, of Colby, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, in the emergency room at Saint Joseph's Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby, Wis. The Rev. John Gualberk, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and Warren's cousin, the Rev. Donald Berg, will concelebrate the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. #358 of Unity.

Friends may call at the Maurina/Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, and one hour prior to service time on Tuesday at the church. A prayer service is 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Warren was born Nov. 1, 1935, to Raymond and Mary (Sazama) Berg in Colby, Wis. He attended Lone Pine School and St. Mary's Parochial School until the eighth grade. Warren entered Colby High School and graduated in 1953. While attending high school Warren also worked at his father's cheese factory. Warren entered the military on Aug. 10, 1962, in the Army Reserve, where he worked as a welder. He later was honorably discharged. Following his military service Warren returned to work at his father's cheese factory.

Warren married Phyllis Banie on Aug. 17, 1968, at St. John's Catholic Church in Edgar.

The coupled settled in Colby, Wis. After the cheese factory ceased production, Warren began working for Mullins Cheese. He was a milk hauler at both the Riplinger and Knowlton locations. He retired from Mullins Cheese in 2001. Warren came out of retirement and began driving bus for the North Central Health Care Center until the time of his death.

Warren enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, watching Western movies and was an avid Packers fan. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Order of Forresters, and the American Legion Post No. #358 of Unity.

Warren is survived by his loving wife Phyllis; children, Joseph (Joan) Berg of Colby, Karen Berg of Colby; grandchildren, Lauren, Madyson and Rachael Berg, all of Colby, and sisters, Betty (Edward) Miller of Merrill and Jean (David) Haffa of Marshfield.
