Jerina, Frances (16 MAY 1942)

The Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Owen trimmed with basket of lilacs and tulips, was the pretty setting in which Miss Frances Jerina, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Jerina of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and Wilbert Hemersback (Hemmersbach?), son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hemersback of Greenwood (Clark Co.) were united in holy matrimony.

The nuptial High Mass was held Saturday, May 16, 1942, at which the Rev. Charles D. Brady officiated. Miss Mary Kay Bornhofen sang Schubert’s "Ave Maria" at the offeratory.

The bride wore an entrained gown of white velour flowered georgette. The basque blouse was buttoned down the back with tiny buttons to the skirt, and the long fitted sleeves came to a point over the hand. Her veil, which was caught to a headdress of rhinestones and pearls, was of fingertip length and edged in plaited Chantilly lace. She carried a bouquet of call lilies and a pearl rosary, a gift from the bridegroom.

Her sister, Miss Anne Jerina, attending as maid of honor, wore a gown of blush pink Georgette. The long full skirt fell from a band of lace and the full long sleeves were caught up by lace cuffs as was the blouse gathered by a lace yoke. The matching headdress was fashioned of a flowered halo and a shoulder length veil. A bouquet of pink and white carnations, and white snapdragons completed the ensemble. Miss Helen Hemersback, sister of the groom, served as bridesmaid,a nd was attired in a baby flue ensemble similar to the maid of honor.

Attending the groom was Edmund Hemersback, his brother, who served as best man, and Frank Jerina, brother of the bride,a ttended as groomsman.

A large reception and dinner followed at the bride’s home. A large wedding cake, topped with a wedding bell, centered the table, at which covers were laid for 60 guests.

That evening a wedding dance was held at Merry Ol’ Gardens, Longwood, and was very well attended.

The bride and groom will make their home in Waukegan, Ill., where the groom is employed at the American Steel and Wire Co., and the bride at the Abbott Laboratories.

Out of town guests included Mrs. Sena Herricks, Mr. and Mrs. William Schaub, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Hemersback and daughter, all of Sparta; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Merlock and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Minshek and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wedo Sebben and daughter, and Miss Jennie Jerina, all of Waukegan.
