Curtiss, Wis. - Apr. 28, 1949

The Ladies’ Aid of the Ev. and Reformed church will observe their annual guest day at the village hall on Wednesday, May 4th.

The Helping Hand Society will meet at the home of Mrs. L. W. Smith on Friday, April 29th. A pot luck lunch will be served.

Mrs. Esther Thompson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, arrived here on Saturday to visit at the home of her brother, Alfred Thompson, and family.

Mrs. Martha Harmel, who spent the past winter with her daughter in South Dakota returned home last week.

Mrs. Harry Eide of Chili spent several days the past week with her daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Laabs.

A. M. Erickson spent the week-end at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Erickson, who spent the past week there, returned home with him.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Laabs and children left on Saturday for a week’s vacation to Illinois, Schenandoah, Iowa, and Omaha, Neb.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peterson moved into the Mrs. Fred Machlett residence on Monday which they recently purchased.

Mr. and Mrs. George Hoff visited their daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Boardman at Thorp on Sunday.

Ben Machlett of Eau Claire and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bejin of Chippewa Falls were here for the auction sale at the Mrs. Fred Machlett home.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Laabs entertained a party of friends at the parish hall on Thursday evening to celebrate their son, Dennis’, 4th birthday anniversary.

Rev. and Mrs. George E. Bornsen attended a conference of Lutheran pastors of the Eau Claire circuit at Greenwood on Monday afternoon, and a conference of Clark county Lutheran pastors at Withee on Tuesday where Rev. and Mrs. Bundegaard were hosts.

Mrs. Fred Machlett and son, Harry, left on Sunday for their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Guests at the home of Mrs. Anna Tonn during the past week were her sister, Miss Gertie Schulz of Milwaukee, her brother, Paul Schulz, and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kuegler and daughters of Dorchester, Wis.
