Welch, Blanche (12 OCT 1865 - 29 AUG 1942)

Mrs. William Welch (nee Blanche C. Leggett), a resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) about thirty years ago, passed away at Milwaukee, of heart disease on Aug. 29, 1942. She had reached the age of 76 years, 10 months and 17 days.

The deceased was born in New York State on Oct. 12, 1865. She was married to Wm. Welch in 1882 at Elkhorn, Wis. They resided at Hartford, Wis. for several years before coming to Thorp, where they spent twelve years. She moved to Polley, Wis. with her husband and family and spent the remainder of her days there until shortly before her death.

She is survived by three sons, Roy and George of Milwaukee, and Floyd of Gilman; three daughters, Mrs. Monroe (Lillian) Berthiaume, of Cloquet, Minn., Mrs. Frank (Emma) Forrest of Hartford, Conn., and Mrs. George (Gladys) Zobel of Nichols, Wis., 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Her husband and two sons preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Godfrey at the Presbyterian Church at Gilman on Monday at 2:00 p.m. Interment took place in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Anson Heagle, Alvin Kirchon, John Rossman, Lyall Tallman, Clarence Glidden and Percy Kingman.
