Froeba, Raymond (1936 - 14 Nov. 1955)

Raymond Froeba, age 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Froeba of Loyal, Route 2, was fatally injured at 5:25 A.M. Monday when his car, being towed by a milk truck, and an auto being driven by Ferdinand Henninger, age 47, also of Loyal, sideswiped on a curve on Highway 98, about four miles southwest of Loyal at "Cole’s Corner."

Froeba died in the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital at 9:30 A.M. He and Henninger, the only occupants of the cars, were taken to the hospital in a Spencer ambulance. The dead youth’s injuries included fractures of the skull, facial bones and jaw, left arm and shoulder, right leg and hip and a crushed chest.

Henninger suffered only minor injuries for which he was treated at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital. Lyle Stange, driver of the truck, which was towing the Froeba car, was reported uninjured.

Three Clark county officials, Sheriff Ray Kutsche and Coroner John Bergemann of Neillsville and Lorris Dusso of Greenwood county traffic officer, investigated the accident.

It was reported that Froeba’s car was being hauled to Loyal after running into a ditch. The towing truck belonged to the Schlinsog Dairy of Loyal, Route 2. Henninger was on his way to his job at the Roddis plant in Marshfield at the time of the accident.

Froeba was born at Loyal and lived his entire life in that community. He was employed at the Schlinsog cheese factory as a cheesemaker and truck driver.

He is survived by his parents; three brothers, Thomas of Loyal and Herbert and Ronald at home; and five sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Catherine) Grambort of Abbotsford, Mrs. Alfred (Viola) Uhlig of Abbotsford, Marciel, Nancy and Sandra at home.

Raymond is the second child of the Froeba family to meet death in an automobile accident. A sister, Evelyn, age 15, was fatally injured in a car accident at Loyal in 1943.
