Colby, Wis. - Local News Oct. 20, 1955

Mrs. Walter Wiersig returned home from the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jerschele at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital October 12.

Mrs. Martha Weller is making an indefinite visit at the home of her son, Walter, and his wife in Wauwatosa.

Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Zillmann and daughter, Judy, of Eau Claire were week-end guests at the home of his mother, Mrs. Ed Zillmann.

Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Smith and sons of Fort Atkinson and Mrs. Wm. Ahlmann of Wausau, Wisconsin spent Saturday at the Carl Borchert home.

Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Zillmann and children, Robert, Juli Ann, Rickie and Catherine, of Baldwin spent Sunday with the former’s mother, Mrs. Ed Zillmann.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Celle, Mrs. Emma Lauber and Mrs. Edwin Mandel of Two Rivers were week-end guests of Mrs. Ernst Mandel and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dins.

Mr. and Mrs. Don C. Borchert and son, Stephen, returned to Mason City, Iowa, Tuesday after spending the week-end at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Borchert.

Mrs. Will Ebert of Colby spent Sunday at Wausau with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Koffarnus, while Mr. Ebert and son, Robert, the latter of Wausau, autoed to Wauwatosa and spent the day with Will’s mother, Mrs. Lena Ebert.

Ernst Schulz, Woodrow Tesmer, Marc Foster, Frank Jordan, Delbert Rinehart, Russ Meyer, members of the Colby High School board, John Ravy, principal, together with Raymond La Vee of Appleton, architect for the new high school building to be erected in Colby, inspected school buildings at Appleton, Oshkosh, Neenah and Shawano one day last week.

George R. Zettler, machinist’s mate second class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony G. Zettler of Colby, is aboard the USS Owen scheduled to return to the United States with the Destroyer Division 192 late in October. While on a six-month cruise in the Far East, the division operated with fast carrier Task Force 77 and conducted patrol activities in the Formosa Straits.

The following members of St. Mary’s Confraternity attended the Clark-Jackson Deanery meeting at Thorp Tuesday afternoon: Mrs. Wm. Schultz, Mrs. Rod Cook, Mrs. Mike Stieber, Mrs. R. J. Weix, Mrs. Erwin Meyer, Mrs. Nick Gierl, Mrs. Rose Thorn, Mrs. Wm. Sedlack, Mrs. Anna Schlimm, Mrs. Laura Frane, Miss Mabel Neumeister, Mrs. Mike Florkowski, Mrs. Felix Zukowsky, Mrs. Stanley Zuber, Mrs. Mary Hebert and Mrs. Anthony L. Schemmer.
