Prentice, Mary Ruth (Marriage - 25 June 1955)

Miss Mary Ruth Prentice of Cornell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Prentice of Cornell, and Roger Steen of Cornell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thorwald Steen of Cornell, exchanged marriage vows in the First Presbyterian church in Cornell Saturday, June 25th, at 2:00 P.M., Rev. Edward Ketchem reading the marriage ceremony.

The bride was attired in a gown of blush pink nylon tulle over white taffeta with white organdy, flowers around the collar and peplum. Her veil was in matching blush pink with lily-of-the-valley decorations at the crown. Her bouquet consisted of sweetheart roses surrounding a white orchid.

The matron of honor, Mrs. Douglas Wescott, of Escanaba, Mich., wore a dress of white organdy, waltz length, with a pale pink sash forming a large bow in the back. The bridesmaids, Mrs. Jerry Prentice, of Cornell, sister-in-law of the bride, and Mrs. Alan Halstead, of Whitehall, sister of the groom, wore white organdy waltz length dresses with pale pink sashes forming large bows in the back. The junior bridesmaid, Kathy Prentice of Cornell, sister of the bride, also wore a dress of white organdy with a pink sash forming a bow in back. The bouquets of all attendants consisted of white and pink daisies.

The groom was attended by Marshall Solie of Cornell, Lee Prentice, brother of the bride, of Cornell, and Kenneth Fremstead of Pigeon Falls. Ushers were Jerry Prentice, brother of the bride, of Cornell, Alan Halstead, brother-in-law of the groom, of Whitehall, and Rune Ruud of Cornell.

A reception was held in the First Presbyterian church parlors in the afternoon.

After a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin, the couple will make their home in Colby where the groom is an instructor at the Colby High School and is employed by the Johnson Block Co., during the summer.
