Dorchester--Frank J. Hollman, 90, Dorchester, died March 23, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Maurina Funeral Home of Dorchester is in charge of the arrangements.

FRANK HOLLMAN JR.

Frank Joseph Hollman Jr., 90, Dorchester, died at 1:15 p.m., March 23, 1999, At St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Louis Parish in Dorchester with the Rev. Father James Schaefer officiating.

Inurnment (sic) will be in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Ludwig, Tom Ludwig, Chris Rahn, Jim Jantsch, Jim Reynolds and Jerry Reynolds.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mausina Funeral Home in Dorchester with a Parish Council of Catholic Women Rosary at 4:30 p.m.

Frank was born Oct. 20, 1908, in the town of Holton, rural Dorchester, the son of Frank J. and Christina (nee Flechenstein) Hollman. He attended the Brucherville country school and as a young man traveled to the Pacific Northwest to log in Oregon and Washington.

Frank and the former Helen Marie Riegert were united in marriage on Sept. 17, 1935, at Sacred Heart Parish in Stetsonville. They farmed in the town of Mayville until retiring in 1972, moving to the village of Dorchester, Wis. While farming, Frank was employed as a mechanic with John Mertens Trucking in Dorchester and later worked for the Dorchester Co-op. He also worked for Francis Melvin Company in Medford.

Even though retired, Frank was always busy. Farmers appreciated his sharpening their cow clipper blades. He also enjoyed welding, woodworking and crafts and working in his garden. Frank was a member of St. Louis Parish.

He will be sadly missed by his children, two sons, James (Mary Ann) Hollman of Abbotsford and Dennis "Butch" Hollman of Colby; four daughters, Roberta "Tuts" (Merlin) Ludwig of Medford and Mary Jane (Glenn) Ludwig of Marshfield, Judy (Douglas) Rahn of Wauwatosa and Sandra (Ronald) Wishart of Manalapan, N.J. He is further survived by 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; his brother, Edward (Eleanor) Hollman of Chilton; and his sister, Helen (Alois) Obernberger of Stratford.

Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Marie Hollman on Aug. 8, 1994; grandson Mitchell Hollman on Sept 7, 1990; one brother, Herbert Hollman; and three sisters, Bernice Frank, Lorraine Krajci and Cora Smith.

Memorials may be given in his name to St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, Wis.

*Transcriber note: The parents and grandparents of Frank J. Hollman, Jr. originally spelled their last name with two N’s: Hollmann. (His grandparents, Joseph and Theresia Hollmann, are my great-grandparents.)
