Kowieski, Joseph (19 MAR 1867 - 20 MAR 1941)

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F.A. Kulig at St. Hedwig’s Church on Monday morning at ten o’clock for Joseph Kowieski, 74, who passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Chippewa Falls on Thursday, Mar. 20, 1941, of ruptured ulcer.

The deceased was born in Poland on March 19, 1867 and came to America in the year 1900, locating near Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) on a farm. He operates a tavern in the village in 1918 and after disposing of the business returned to the farm where he resided until his death.

He is survived by one son, Alex at home, on daughter, Bernice (Mrs. Jno. Twarowski of the town of Reseburg, and one brother, John Kowieski of the village of Thorp.

He was laid to rest in the St. Hedwig’s Cemetery, the following acting as pallbearers: Peter Jarocki, Paul Kowieski, John Kliminski, Martin Soda, Walter Twarowski and Joe Twarowski.
