Cattanach, Katherine M. (Lamont) (28 Apr 1914 - 10 Jan 2008)

Katherine M. "Kappy" Cattanach, 93, Owen, died Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Golden Living Center-Continental Manor in Abbotsford, Wis.

Katherine was born April 28, 1914, to Angus and Mary Lamont. She is a graduate from Colby High School. Katherine and Bert Cattanach were married on January 28, 1939.

Kappy did many things in her life. She was a beautician, working in Owen and Abbotsford, Wis. Her favorite job was that of a cook for Holy Rosary Catholic School for what she regarded as "her kids."

She loved to have a good time. Kappy enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, reading, and gardening. Her kitchen table was a gathering place where laughter and tears were shared in abundance. She was never too busy to listen.

Kappy was a blessing to many people during her life. To her extended family, she served as a wonderful parent that always had an open ear, a warm smile and would never "close the door." To friends, she was trusting and faithful, always willing to give time to those who needed it.

Kappy is survived by her children, Eileen (Raye) Hahn of Ogema, Richard Cattanach of Anchorage, Alaska, Mary (Terry) Dorn of Colby, Suzanne (Charley) Heath of Medford, and Patrick (Beverly) Cattanach of Fort Meyers, Florida; and one brother, Angus "Bud" (Virginia) Lamont of Colby; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Kappy is preceded in death by her husband, Bert; and son, William; and two brothers, Malcolm and Donald.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Father Benjamin Franklin presided. Pallbearers were James Riley, Tom Miller, Scott Dorn, Brian Dombroski, Tom Przybylski, Eric Cattanach, Wesley Cattanach, and John Glenzer.

Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. and a Rosary service at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Maurina Funeral Home in Owen.

Maurina-Community Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
