Prior, Irene I. (13 AUG 1908 - 16 JUN 2000)

Loyal, Clark Co., Wis. - Irene Isabelle (Nee Pratt) Prior died Friday, June 16, 2000, at the Neillsville Memorial Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Loyal United Methodist Church. The body will be cremated and burial will be in the Loyal Cemetery at a later date.

She was born Aug. 13, 1908, in Northbend to Ralph and Blanche Pratt. Her family moved to Loyal where her father operated a blacksmith shop and her mother was a seamstress.

Irene married Calvin R. Prior Feb. 16, 1937. They farmed north of Loyal and later in the Greenwood area. During the 1930’s and 1940’s she sang at many weddings and funeral at the Loyal Methodist Church.

After retirement they lived in Greenwood, then moved to Stanton, Calif., and then returned to Loyal. Following Calvin’s death in Auguat 1986, she spent two years in Mundelein, Ill., before returning to Loyal in 1996 and she moved to the Alzheimer’s unit at the Neillsville Memorial Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin; her sisters, Polly, Margaret and Rachel; a son, Arthur (Joyce); three grandsons and two great-granddaughters.

Surviving are one son, Allan (June) of Loyal; two daughters, Polly Everette of Stanton, Calif., and Wilma (Delton)( Jolivette of Greenwood; a brother, Sherrin Pratt of Racine, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial may be given to the Loyal United Methodist Church building fund.
