Viegut, Everdeen (Marriage - 15 Nov. 1952)

Miss Everdeen Viegut, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Viegut of the town of Wien and Albert Podevels, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Podevels of the town of Frankfort, were united in marriage Saturday afternoon, Nov. 15, in St. John’s Lutheran church in the town of Wien, Rev. Jeff Kolberg reading the marriage ceremony. Mrs. Martin Bauman and Mrs. Albert Mueller sang "God Will Take Care of You" and "Master Let Me Walk With Thee," accompanied by Mrs. Kolberg on the organ.

The bride, who was escorted down the aisle by her father, wore a gown of white slipper satin and a veil of imported silk illusion, caught to a ruffled lace bonnet, the brim of which was edged with seed pearls and bordered with Chantilly-type lace. The same lace bordered the V-shaped neckline and fan-shaped train of the bridal gown. She carried a bouquet of red roses and white pompoms.

Attending the bride were her eldest sister, Mrs. Albert Tushinski, of Moline, Ill., as matron of honor, her youngest sister, Miss Janna Mae Viegut of Edgar, as maid of honor, and her niece, little Sharon Woldt, as flower girl. The latter wore a yellow taffeta frock with a large bertha collar made by the bride’s mother, and carried a miniature colonial bouquet of roses and pompons.

The bridal aides were identically attired in gowns of shrimp pink and peacock blue. Brief jackets of net over satin, styled with three-quarter-length sleeves and mandarin collars, were worn over their gowns which featured strapless bodices and full net skirts over satin. Braided headdresses to match their gowns completed their ensembles. They carried colonial bouquets of roses and pompons. The little flower girl also wore a braided headdress.

LaVern Podevels of Colby was in the bridal party as best man and the ushers included Orvis Viegut of Edgar, brother of the bride, and Harold Podevels of Colby, another brother of the bridegroom. Ardell Woldt and Dean Podevels, nephews of the bride and groom, respectively, served as junior ushers.

The bride’s mother wore an aqua dress and the bridegroom’s mother was in orchid. Both wore black accessories and corsages of red roses.

A reception for 125 guests followed at the home of the bride’s parents, which had been decorated with pink, blue, yellow and white streamers, festooned from large, white wedding bells. The wedding supper was served in the church dining hall.

The couple will reside on the bridegroom’s farm in the town of Frankfort are at home to friends. Previous to her marriage the bride was employed in the sales department of the Wisconsin Public Service Corp., Wausau. She is a graduate of Edgar High School and the bridegroom of Colby High School.
