Zimdars, Janice (Marriage - 8 Nov. 1952)

Zion Evangelical Lutheran church of Embarrass was the setting of a 3:00 o’clock ceremony on Saturday, November 8, when Miss Janice Zimdars became the bride of Ralph Nystrom. The Rev. Walter List officiated at the service uniting in marriage the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Zimdars of Embarrass and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nystrom of Colby before an altar decorated with bouquets of yellow and white mums and satin ribbon.

During the double ring ceremony, a friend of the couple, Mrs. James Maleug of Clintonville, sang "Take Time to be Holy," "Wedding Prayer" and "Lord, at Cana Thou Didst Appear." Mrs. Alfred Konkel, aunt of the bride, presided at the organ.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride approached the altar on a white carpeted aisle, wearing a gown of heavy bridal satin extending into a cathedral train. The fitted bodice was fashioned with a V-shaped net yoke appliquéd with Venise-point lace imported from Italy. The long sleeves extended into a point over her hands. Starting with a point at the waistline the same lace was appliquéd to form an overskirt in the front and extending in a wide band around the edge of the train. Her fingertip veil of bridal illusion was held by a lace and seeded pearl headpiece. The bride carried a white leather bound prayer book, a gift of the groom, on which was fastened pink roses and tiny white mums with satin streamers. Tiny pearl earrings, also a gift of the groom, and a white fur cape completed the ensemble.

Mrs. Charles Gummerson of Chicago, sister of the groom, served as matron of honor and Miss Arlene Mills of Owen, Wis., friend of the bride, as maid of honor, both attired in gowns of honey colored nylon net fashioned with cord embroidered bodices and overskirts edged with pleating over nylon net and taffeta. Short fitted cord embroidered boleros and matching gauntlets with headpieces of crisp veiling fastened with a velvet band and sequins completed their costumes. Serving as bridesmaids were Miss Eunice Anton of Embarrass, Mrs. Carsten Koeller, Rantuel, Ill., Miss Carolyn Krueger of Plymouth, all friends of the bride, and Miss Loraine Bueller of Ixonia, a cousin of the bride. All were attired in gowns of heavenly blue styled identical to the matron of honor. All wore matching headpieces and gauntlets and wore bracelets of gold set with pearls and rhinestones which were a gift of the bride. The maid of honor and the matron of honor carried colonial bouquets of blue and white mums with white satin ribbon. The bridesmaids were fashioned identically with white and yellow mums.

Little Janice Gummerson, niece of the groom, as flower girl, was dressed in white net over taffeta with a pink velvet sash and headpiece and carried a miniature colonial bouquet of pink and white mums.

Jon Zimdars, brother of the bride, carried the rings in a white velvet case, and was dressed in a suit of navy blue.

? ?son of Chicago, brother-in-law of the groom, served as best man and Gilbert Waldhart of Appleton, friend of the groom, served as groomsmen. All gentlemen of the bridal party wore navy blue tuxedos with white carnations in their lapels.

The bride’s mother witnessed the ceremony in a gown of grey-blue silk crepe trimmed with velvet and grey accessories; the groom’s mother wore a grey-blue lace dress with black accessories. They both wore corsages of pink carnations.

The grand mothers wore corsages of yellow and white mums.

Harry Zimdars and Alfred Konkel, both uncles of the bride, acted as ushers.

After the ceremony, the young couple were honored with a 6:00 o’clock dinner at Club LaVida for 100 guests, with an 8:00 o’clock reception for 350 guests.

Out of town guests were from Duluth and Minneapolis, Minn.; Bessemer, Mich.; Cumberland, Greenwood, Abbotsford, Colby, Spencer, Green Bay, Shawano, Ixonia, Milwaukee, Beloit, Oshkosh, Plymouth, Owen, Wis.; and Chicago, Ill.

The groom is serving with the U.S. Navy, now stationed at Rhode Island and the bride is employed at Milwaukee with the Fontaine-McCurdy Accounting firm.

The young couple left on a week’s honeymoon to Kentucky and other southern points of interest.
