Weis, VirJean (Marriage - 3 June 1952)

The parsonage of Christ the King Catholic church, Spencer, provided the setting at 10:30 Tuesday morning, June 3, for the marriage of Miss VirJean Weis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Weis, route 1, Spencer, to Wilbur Mellenthin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mellenthin, route 1, Unity, Wis. The Rev. Paul Pitzenzerger officiated at the ceremony.

The bride selected a satin gown featuring long satin sleeves coming to a peak at the wrist, with a satin fold for a collar. The full skirt swept into a cathedral train. Her finger-tip veil of sheer imported illusion net was embroidered with appliquéd flowers. A matching lace cap studded with pearls completed the costume. She carried a colonial bouquet of red roses and white mums.

Miss Ethel Bodendorfer, Marshfield, carrying a bouquet of yellow carnations and white gladioli, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. James Krasselt, and Miss Jean Luepke, niece of the groom. All bridal attendants were attired in identically styled frocks of orchid, maize and Nile green, respectively, with portrait necklines with pleated edging. Headpieces matching the dresses consisted of small wreaths of imported net caught with tiny rosebuds. Both bridesmaids carried bouquets of deep pink carnations and white gladioli.

Rosemary Weis, sister of the bride, filling the role of flower girl, wore a sleeveless white taffeta dress with a double net ruffled neckline and a full net skirt that tied with a blue sash. Her bouquet was made of small pink roses and split carnations with blue ribbon streamers.

Ray Weis, Spencer, brother of the bride, was best man, and James Krasselt and Vernal Weis, brother of the bride, were groomsmen.

The bride’s mother viewed her daughter’s wedding in a black and white crepe dress. The groom’s mother wore a navy blue crepe dress with rhinestone trim. Both mothers wore corsages of white carnations.

A dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents, later followed by a supper and dance at the Country Ballroom.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of Spencer High School.

After a honeymoon in Northern Wisconsin, they will reside on the groom’s father’s farm.

Guests included relatives and friends from Wausau, Marshfield, Spencer, Unity, Racine, Beaver Dam, Loyal and Rockford, Ill.
