Strathman, Fred (28 Aug. 1862 - 15 Sept. 1947)

Fred Strathman died at the Marathon county hospital, where he had been a patient the past year and one-half, on Monday, Sept. 15th. The body will lie in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby until this Thursday afternoon when funeral services will be held at that funeral home, Rev. J. C. Klingeberger officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Edward Dehne, Wm. Witte, Fred Thieme, Jack Young, Gust Franz and Herman Wiedenhoeft.

The deceased was born in Hamburg, Germany, on August 28, 1862, thus reaching the age of 87 years and 17 days. He was married to Sophia Nagel in Germany in 1885. They came to the United States in 1887, coming directly to this community and engaged in farming in the town of Hull, Wisconsin. Mrs. Strathman died in 1918.

Surviving are two sons, Wm. H. Strathman and Herman Strathman, both of Colby, and one sister, Mrs. Dick Nagel of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. One son, one daughter, a sister and a brother preceded him in death.

The deceased, like all early settlers, was of an honest, industrious and congenial disposition and always endeavored to perform his work well.

Funeral services were held for Fred Strathmann last Thursday afternoon at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Rev. J. C. Klingeberger officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Surviving are two sons, Wm. H. and Herman Strathman of Colby, one sister, Mrs. Dick Nagel of Milwaukee, and seven grand children.
