Reusch, William (2 Apr. 1878 - 13 Nov. 1946)

William Reusch, a former resident of the town of Colby, was killed and two others were seriously injured when the automobile in which they were riding was struck by a police squad car Wednesday night, Nov. 13, at Hawthorne, Calif.

Mrs. Reusch and Martin Jacobs, according to the report received here, were taken to a hospital in unconscious condition and were critically hurt. The fourth occupant of the car, Miss Delores Beyerl, a daughter of Mrs. Reusch, escaped with slight injuries.

Mr. and Mrs. Reusch moved to California about seven weeks ago. They, and other occupants of the car, were returning from a motion picture show when the accident occurred.

The body arrived in Colby Tuesday evening and remained in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home until Wednesday morning when funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were L. M. Beyerl, George Allar, Albert Weix, Virgil Frane, Wm. M. Meyer and Earl Butler.

William Reusch was born April 2, 1878, in the southern part of the state and lived on a farm near Lodi for many years. Following the death of his wife, he worked for many years near Junction City, and Stratford.

On July 17, 1934, he was married to Mrs. Eva Beyerl in Colby, and operated a farm in the town of Colby, which they sold two months ago.

He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Surviving are his wife, two brothers, a sister, and one grandchild.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Joe Beyerl of California and Leon Beyerl of Butternut, Wis.
