Hotchkiss, Carmen (26 OCT 1940)

A beautiful fall wedding took place at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, Oct. 26, 1940, at the Green Grove Church, when Miss Carmen Hotchkiss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Langfeldt of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) became the bride of Albert Novak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Math Novak of Owen (Clark Co.). The ceremony was read by Rev. M.C. Goetsch.

Mrs. Goetsch played the wedding march and Miss Adeline Goetsch sang, "O Promise Me: and "I Love You Truly."

The bride was attired in a white brocaded satin gown with a long lace inlaid train. She wore a seed pearl crown with a lace-edged finger-tip veil. An arm bouquet of pink roses and white chrysanthemums with long streamers completed her bridal ensemble.

Miss Violet Hotchkiss, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Misses Dorothy and Mavis Hotchkiss, also sisters, were bridesmaids. The maid of honor wore a gown of aqua green taffeta, while the bridesmaids wore teal blue and aqua blue taffeta, respectively. All three wore blusher veils caught to wreaths matching their dresses and shoulder corsages.

Janis Langfeldt, half sister of the bride, was flower girl in an ankle length dress of pink taffeta. She carried a basket of mixed flowers and wore pink ribbons in her hair. William Kovatch, nephew of the bridegroom, served as ring bearer, carrying a heart-shaped pillow of white satin.

Mr. Novak was attended by his brother, Louis Novak, and two friends, Edward Raatz and Olden Hardrath.

The bride’s mother attended the ceremony in a soldier blue crepe dress and the groom’s mother was dressed in brown taffeta. Both wore shoulder bouquets.

The reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, which was decorated with white, pink and blue streamers. A white bell was suspended from the ceiling, and the bridal table was centered by a large wedding cake. Covers for supper were laid for 50 relatives and friends.

A dance was held at the Atwood hall in the evening.

Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hotchkiss of Wausau, Mrs. Coy Drinkwine and family of Prairie Farm; Mrs. Lowell Stevens and family of Boyceville.

Mr. and Mrs. Novak will make their home on the groom’s farm in the town of Green Grove.
