Dorothy M. Brux, 91, Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Greenwood, died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood, Wisconsin. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Matthew Brux, Ryan Horton, Gary Boyle, Jon Brux, Bradley Brux and Kori Neider. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Kowieski, Ken Dearth, Dennis Carteron, Dick Larson, Lou Bucheger and Josephine Verschay.

Dorothy M. Belisle was born on Jan. 23, 1916, in Amery, to Edward and Elizabeth (nee Champeau) Belisle. She was raised on the family farm at Balsam Lake, one of nine children, and received her education at Blake Lake Elementary School and graduated from Milltown High School in 1935. She married Harlan W. Brux on June 7, 1937, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Balsam Lake. They lived in Mellon and Redville, before moving to Greenwood in 1946. She raised nine children of her own and also raised Margie Rychnovsky for 10 months to 6 years of age. She was a charter member of St. Lucy’s Thrift Shop, Greenwood, where she also volunteered her time. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, volunteer work, but most of all, she loved raising her children and spending time with their families and friends. She was the best wife, mother, and grandmother anyone could have. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she served as president of St. Ann’s Altar Society, was a charter member of St. Mary’s Memorial Fund, served on the Peace and Justice Commission and on the Pastoral Council, and volunteered at St. Mary’s Catholic School. She was also a member of the Clark County Homemaker’s Club, a former trustee of the Catholic Knights Fraternal Society Branch #234, past president of Catholic Family Life Fraternal Society, vice president of the Greenwood Senior Citizens, a member of the Greenwood American Legion Auxiliary, a Gold Star Mother, and was a Red Cross Blood Bank volunteer.

Survivors include seven children, Kathryn (John) Horton, Madison, Dale (Nancy) Brux, Wisconsin Rapids, Janet (Garfield) Bienfang, Naperville, Ill., Judy (Larry) Boyle, Deerbrook, Monica (Randy) Lombard, Eau Claire, Alan (Michelle) Brux, Prescott, Ariz., and Mark (Susan) Brux, Wisconsin Rapids; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Clifford (Virginia) Belisle, Sterling, Ill.; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harlan, on April 17, 1990; two sons, Gary, on Oct. 6, 1966, and Edward, on May 24, 1988; five brothers, Albert, Francis, Herbert, Clarence, and Vincent Belisle; and two sisters, Grace Tschidia and Edna Belisle.

Memorials may be given to the St. Mary’s Catholic School Memorial Fund.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
