GREENWOOD -- John Lewis Fitzl, 90, of Owen, formerly of Greenwood, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at the Clark County Health Care Center, where he had been a resident since December 2003.

Funeral services for John will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2006, at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood, with the Rev. Teri Blomberg officiating.

Pallbearers will be Rick Fitzl, Brian Fitzl, Travis Fitzl, Milt Fitzl Jr., Eddie Lloyd Jr. and Dale O'Dell. Burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery, with full military rites performed by the Greenwood American Legion Post 238.

Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood from noon Friday until time of services.

John Lewis Fitzl was born April 9, 1916, in Stanley, the son of Anton and Fern (Bruett) Fitzl. He attended school in Thorp. After his schooling, he worked on the family farm. He was united in marriage on July 5, 1938, to Margaret Johnson.

John served in the United States Army During World War II, stationed in Germany. He owned and operated a carpentry business for 35 years in Greenwood, Wisconsin.

He greatly enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Greenwood American Legion Post 238 and Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Greenwood, Wisconsin.

John will be sadly missed by his children, Milton (Fern) Fitzl of Loyal, Dick (Kathee) Fitzl of Loyal, Dennis (Joyce) Fitzl of Willard, Marjorie Rose of Greenwood, Donna (Bill) Hammond of Loyal and Beverly (Edwin) Lloyd of Neillsville; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his sister, Irene Johnson of Lake Geneva.

John was preceded in death by his his wife, Margaret, on Feb. 4, 1962; two sons, Jimmy and Billy in infancy; three grandchildren; parents; and three brothers.

Cuddie Funeral Home of Greenwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
