Funeral services for Emil H. Zenk were held Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church in the town of Frankfort and for Ted Poplowski Saturday afternoon at Athens, Rev. Walter Barron, pastor of the Christian Assembly, officiating for the latter. Both men met death on a curve on Highway 97, one mile north of Marshfield, when their car failed to make a curve Wednesday morning, May 23rd, as reported last week.
Emil H. Zenk, age 46, farm owner and operator, of Edgar, Rt. 1, was born in the town of Frankfort, Marathon county, on Aug. 6, 1898. He was married in Chicago to Miss Helen Kacinski on May 28, 1923. They moved to the town of Frankfort 18 years ago. Besides his widow, he leaves two sisters, Miss Anna Zenk and Mrs. William Dixon of Chicago; four brothers, Ernest of Sheboygan, Albert and Henry of Whittlesey and Carl of the town of Frankfort.
Mr. Poplowski was 42 years old on May 16, 1945. He was born at Weyerhaueser and lived for a time in Chicago. He operated a cheese factory in Bronsville and also farmed near Curtiss, Wis. For the past 10 years he operated the Diamond Dairy cheese factory, Edgar, Rt. 1. He was married in Chicago to Margaret Janick on March 4, 1924. Besides his widow, he leaves a daughter, Lorraine, and five sons - Theodore, Eugene, Wayne, Jerry and Stanley, all at home. Also a sister, Mrs. Joe Janick and two brothers, Jack and Stanley, all of Weyerhaueser.
