Wicker, Mr./Mrs. Frank (50th Anniv. - 31 Oct. 1944)

Highlighting the observance of the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wicker, Colby, Wis., which was held at their home Sunday, Oct. 29th, was the presence of all seven children, fourteen of their grand children, and two great-grandchildren.

Although the couple’s golden wedding occurs Oct. 31, they celebrated Sunday in order to enable their children to be present. At open house in the afternoon, some sixty guests were received. Cake and ice cream was served.

Sixty relatives were present at a family dinner. A large wedding cake graced the table as a centerpiece. Colored leaves and bouquets of chrysanthemums served as decorations throughout the home.

Mrs. Wicker, 74, had a yellow and bronze corsage and Mr. Wicker, 73, had a yellow and white boutonniere.

Mr. Wicker was born in Washington county on March 28, 1871, and Mrs. Wicker, nee Idella Wescott, was born in Kaukauna, Wis., on Dec. 19, 1869. They were married on October 31, 1894, at the family home in the town of Eau Pleine and lived at March Rapids for some time and then moved to Medford, Wis. They also lived at various places throughout the state. They moved to Colby on April 24, 1944.

The children are Harold of Stratford, Vernon of Pelican Lake, Kenneth of Milwaukee, Mrs. Mildred Robertson of Stratford, Mrs. Marion Erickson of Clyman, Evelyn, at home, and Elmer of Colby, Wis.

The honored couple was presented with flowers, money and numerous other gifts.

Out of town guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Edval Erickson and family, Clyman; Kenneth Wicker and sons, Mrs. John Grimes, Milwaukee; Charles Schulz and Mrs. Erma Romanik, Wauwatosa; Vernon Wicker, Pelican Lake; Mrs. Marion Miller, New Baltimore, Mich.; Mrs. Ora Sheldon and daughter, Doris, of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Nettie Castner and daughters, Marshfield; Mrs. Edith Wichman and daughters, Loyal; Tom Wicker, Eau Claire; Mrs. Bernice Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Patteson, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lang and family, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. George Wicker and son, Unity; Mrs. Anna Wescott, Spencer; Dr. and Mrs. Harold Wicker and son, Harvey Wescott, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wescott, Mr. and Mrs. Earle Robertson of Stratford, Robert Robertson A.S.V.-12, Appleton, and Mrs. Myron Busche and children of Wausau, Wis.
