Tamborino, Mr./Mrs. Henry (50th Anniv. - 16 Oct. 1944)

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tamborino of Colby observed their golden wedding anniversary Monday. At 8:15 o’clock in the morning, a solemn high mass was celebrated for the couple by the Rev. Augustine Borkowski at St. Mary’s Catholic church, which was also attended by their children.

Mrs. Mary Truitt of Perham, Minn., who was her sister’s bridesmaid, and Felix Tamborino of Duluth, Minn., who served as best man for his cousin 50 years ago, also were present.

Mrs. Tamborino wore a black crepe dress, with sequin trim at the neckline, and Mrs. Truitt wore a dress of yellow roses and Mrs. Tamborino also wore a pin that she wore on her wedding day.

A dinner and reception at the Tamborino home followed, with about 75 guests present. The house was decorated with cut flowers and on the table a three-tiered wedding cake, with gold leaf decorations, formed the centerpiece. A small piece of the wedding cake of 50 years ago, which had been preserved, was redecorated for the occasion. Many gifts were received by Mr. and Mrs. Tamborino.

Mr. Tamborino, who is 76, was born May 16, 1888, at St. Henry, Minn. His wife was born May 16, 1877, at St. Henry. They were married there on October 16, 1894, and made their home on a farm near that city for 25 years. Since then they have lived on farms in Marathon county, and this year they retired and moved to Colby, Wis.

Ten of their 13 children were present at the anniversary celebration. They are Mrs. Martin Weix and Mrs. Nora Kriplean, Colby; Miss Lorraine Tamborino, Los Angeles, California; Miss Inez Tamborino, Milwaukee; Mrs. Theresa Schumacher, Fenwood; Mrs. Elizabeth Bell, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Margaret Teresinski, Athens; Henry and Charles Tamborino of Edgar; and Richard Tamborino of Antigo. A son and two daughters have died. They also have 23 grand-children.

Other out of town guests present included Mrs. Mary Truitt and daughter, Edna, Perham; Felix Tamborino, Duluth; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tamborino of St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Beckel, Kasota, Minn, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Behr, Le Center, Minn.
