Zuege, Frank F. (3 JUL 1858 - 4 JUL 1940)

Frank F. Zuege died at his home in the village of Loyal July 4, after a long illness.

He was born in Nuendoor, Germany, July 3, 1858, having thus reached his 82nd birthday anniversary the day before his death. He came to America when a boy nine years of age. The family settled in Watertown, later moving to Berlin. He was married to Caroline Behm at Oshkosh in 1883 and for a few years they lived on a farm in Saxville. They came to Loyal in 1900 and bought a farm one mile south of the village. After making this farm their home for almost a quarter of a century in 1924 they moved in to the village of Loyal.

Mr. Zuege was always interested in public affairs and hels offices on the town and school boards.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral services, Sunday afternoon, July 7, were conducted in the German language at the home and in English at the church with the Rev. J. C. Langholz officiating. The choir sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Rock of Ages and Mrs. Wm. Rottjar and Mrs. Erwin Dux sang "Jerusalem the Golden" in German. Mrs. George Jensen was organist. Pall bearers were five sons, Herman, William, Ernest, Frank, and Bernard and one son-in-law, John Habhegger.

Lorea Gardner, Mabel Zuege, Dorothea Welch, Dorene Zuege, Lois Habhegger, Catherine Habhegger, and Velma Gardner, his granddaughters, and Caroline Beer, a graet granddaughter, were flower girls.

Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Zuege is survived by his wife, the above named five sons, and by five daughters, Mrs. J. A. (Helen) Welch, North Fond du Lac; Mrs. Alma Hall, Milwaukee. Mrs. John (Anna) Habhegger and Mrs. Floyd (Margaret) Gardner, Loyal; and Mrs. Patrick (Leona) Martin, Cudahy; by 24 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Three children died in infancy and one son, Charles, died soon after receiving an honorable discharge from Camp Lewis during the World War.

Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Zuege and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Zuege and daughter Mabel, Stevens Point; Mrs. J. A. Welch, daughter Dororthea and son Norman and Mrs. Carlton Beer and daughter, North Fond du Lac; Mrs. Alma Hall and son Bernie, Milwaukee; Mrs. Patrick Martin and son Roderick, Cudahy; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Behm and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Behm, Weyauwega; Mrs. John Bahr and daughter Marie, Berlin; and Miss Dorene Zuege, Neillsville, Wis.
