Gerhard 'Doc' Umnus

Fenwood -- Gerhard H. "Doc" Umnus, 81, of Fenwood, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Colonial Center, Colby, Wis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Church in the town of Wien. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Colby, Wis.

The visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, all at St. John's Lutheran Church. Sauter/Kundinger Funeral Home, Stratford, is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born July 15, 1924, in the town of Wien, Marathon County, to Gerhard Sr. and Ida (Bauman) Umnus. He married Marie E. Sazama on Sept. 8, 1945. She died April 15, 1980. He later married June Telschow on March 11, 1982.

Gerhard had farmed in the town of Cleveland and while farming had also been employed at Marathon Electric Company, Wausau, for 32 years until his retirement in 1985.

He is survived by his wife, June; and by two sons, Ronald (Sharon) Umnus, Colby, and John (Jodene) Umnus, Edgar. He also is survived by four stepdaughters, Peggy (Dennis) Haasl, Plymouth, Cindy (Aaron) Totzke, Fenwood, and Susan (Dale) Karl and Connie (Roger) Karl, all of Stratford.

He is further survived by seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren and a sister, Almira Redeker, Wausau, Wis.
