Mae E. Ott

Mae E. Ott, 96, Marshfield, formerly of Chili, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Saint Joseph's Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Chili. The Revs. David Crail and Mary Ann Conklin will officiate. Gerri Mast will serve as organist. Burial will be in Immanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church Wednesday from noon until service time. Hansen Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mae was born April 24, 1909, in Calumet County, a daughter of Edward L. and Julia (Hacker) Ott. The family moved to the Chili area in 1919. Mae attended and graduated from Granton High School in 1928. She attended Neillsville Normal School in 1930, beginning her 45-year career as a professional educator. Mae graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point Teachers College in 1951. She retired from teaching in 1974.

She was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church, Chili, and a member of the United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday school at church for 40 years. She enjoyed reading, correspondence and helping with the Ladies Aid. Her sister, Verna Swenson of Marshfield, and many cousins lovingly survive Mae.

Preceding Mae in death were her parents and two sisters, Leah L. and Hazel I. Ott.

Memorials in Mae's name may be designated to the American Cancer Society or the United Methodist Church.
