Herrick, Gwendolyn (Marriage - 10 June 1944)

Miss Gwendolyn Herrick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Herrick of Curtiss, Wisconsin, and Ralph C. Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin M. Peterson of Curtiss, exchanged marriage vows before the altar of the Evangelical Lutheran church at Curtiss Saturday evening with the Rev. G. E. Borreson officiating.

Attendants at the 7 o’clock candlelight ceremony read Saturday evening were Miss Marjorie Ann Prey, Wausau, a sorority sister of the bride, as maid of honor, Miss Mary Thompson, Curtiss, a cousin of the groom, Miss Grace Pudlas, Curtiss, Grant W. Herrick, Jr., Columbus, a brother of the bride, and Claude Herrick, Montello, a cousin of the bride, and Tolvo Kallia, Owen, Wis.

The bride wore a white organza frock trimmed with lace and made with long full sleeves, a round yoke, and shirred bodice. She carried white gladioli and sweet peas. Her finger-tip veil was caught to a Juliet cap of pearls.

The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore identical dresses in pale blue and flesh pink taffeta, made with basque bodices with sweetheart necklines, full skirts and short sleeves. Half hats with shoulder-length veils and elbow length white lace mitts completed their attire and they carried bouquets of mixed flowers.

Miss Mildred Thompson was organist and Norman Erickson, soloist, sang, "I Love You Truly," and "O Promise Me."

Later a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents decorated with streamers, white wedding bells, and summer flowers.

Both the bride and the groom were graduated from the Owen high school. Mrs. Peterson, who has been a member of the Owen high school faculty, received her B.S. degree from Central State Teachers College at Stevens Point where she was affiliated with Tau Gamma Beta sorority. Mr. Peterson attended River State Teachers College for two years. He is now engaged in farming.
