Blanchard, Edward M. #2 (12 Jan. 1861 - 17 Feb. 1944)

Edward M. Blanchard, a prominent farmer of the town of Hull, died Thursday morning, Feb. 17th, at the age of 83 years at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, where he had been taken after suffering an abdominal stroke a day and a half before he died.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Colby Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. M. B. Ferguson officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were John Schaller, Frank Van Sleet, I. M. Firnstahl, Henry Aderhold, Wm. Beawer and Ernest Gierl. Those in charge of the flowers were Marie Van Sleet, Bernice Van Sleet and Roselyn Vanderhoof.

Mr. Blanchard was born in Janesville on January 12, 1861, and was married on December 25, 1891, in Ayrshire, Iowa, to Miss Maude Pendelbury who died on June 28, 1938. Before moving here in 1926, they lived on a farm in North Dakota, and since that time, they farmed in the town of Hull, Wis.

Surviving are three sons, Ray Blanchard of the town of Hull, Geo. Blanchard of Colby, Wis., and Kenneth Blanchard of Spencer, Wis. Also seven grand children.

The deceased was a good Christian and will be remembered as a man who always endeavored to perform his duties to the best of his ability. He was honest in all his dealings, an indulgent husband and father and a good neighbor.

Out of town people here for the funeral were John Studer and Rose Studer of LaCrosse, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sorenson of Medford, Wis.
