Magdalene Carpenter

Magdalene Carpenter, 95, of 606 S. Walnut St., died at 4:26 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at her home.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Neillsville, Wis. The Rev. James Mohr will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Jump River.

The family will greet friends after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born April 13, 1912, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Peter and Katherine (Latz) Stuner. She married Jay Dee Carpenter in 1933 at Presbyterian Church, Jump River. She attended grade school in Jump River, furthered her education in Milwaukee and graduated from the post-graduate school of nursing in Chicago. She had worked for 25 years as an LPN at Saint Francis Hospital in Milwaukee and moved to Neillsville in 1977. Magdalene resided for the past five years at Parkview Apartments in Marshfield.

She was a member of United Church of Christ in Neillsville and also a member of the Sewing Circle.

Surviving are her sons, Robert (Ethel) Carpenter of Greenwood, and Ted (Barbara) Carpenter of Clifton, Va., and daughter, Darlene (Dennis) Rhodes of Marshfield. Further surviving are her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Albert Stuner of Milwaukee; and three sisters, Mary Griffey of Denver, Colo., Katherine Gerberding of Ladysmith, and Helena McMahan of Saint Jo, Texas.

Magdalene was predeceased by her husband on Feb. 9, 1967; six brothers and one sister.
