Ocy Newmann

Ocy M. Newmann, 83, of Marshfield, died Friday morning, Nov. 23, 2007, at the Marshfield Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at the Hansen Funeral Home. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hiles Cemetery in Dexterville.

Mrs. Newmann was born June 11, 1924, in Owen, a daughter of Frank and Viola (Anderson) Crye. She attended Owen Schools.

On June 10, 1941, the former Ocy Crye was united in marriage to Harris Newmann on the Newmann family farm. He preceded Ocy in death Jan. 13, 1997.

Besides being a loving wife and mother, Mrs. Newmann worked for many years privately cleaning homes and baby-sitting, yet still found time to give of herself to others, along with raising seven children.

Ocy volunteered for more than 35 years at the Marshfield Care Center helping the elderly residents by playing cards, games, writing letters, reading to them and holding birthday celebrations.

While her family and church always came first, some of her other interests included needlework, mystery shows, companionship of her dogs and caring for her houseplants and flowers.

She is lovingly survived by seven children, Franklin (Karen) Newmann, Mary Jane (Richard) Rogers, June (Wayne) Radlinger, Michael Newmann, Susan (Ivan) Ferch, Harry (Susan) Newmann and Peter (Patsy) Newmann; one sister, Mary (Ed) Oniszbuk; 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Sarah, and a sister preceded Mrs. Newmann in death.
