Elizabeth Ruth Nolechek was born on December 3, 1922, in Thorp, WI, to Dr. William and Ruth (Burke) Nolechek. She attended elementary school at St. Bernard’s Catholic School and later graduated from Thorp High School. After graduation from high school, Betty attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She was united in marriage to A. F. "Bud" Bishop in Madison, WI, on September 10, 1947. Bud passed away in 1972, but Betty continued to operate the family business for a number of years until transferring it to her sons.

For the past 25 years, Betty enjoyed spending the winters in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and the summers in Thorp.

She is survived by her four sons: Bob (Paulette) Bishop of Medford, NJ, Bill (Pat) Bishop of Lodi, WI, Rick (Gail) Bishop of Thorp, WI, and Dave (Lori) Bishop of Gilman, WI; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Delores Nolechek of Thorp, WI and Betsy Blawusch of San Diego, CA; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; and one brother, William J. Nolechek.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Joseph’s Home Hospice of Chippewa Falls, WI or to the charity of your choice.
